Google’s Cloud Service

Google is looking to join the cloud. According to numerous sources Google is planning on launching a Dropbox like cloud service.  Google is a big believer in the Cloud, and the online cloud storage service wouldn’t be the first product that Google runs in the Cloud, others that come to mind are Google Docs and Gmail.

The Google Cloud / Drive service will allow users to upload their documents, photos, videos to Google’s service and allow them to access their content from any internet connected device.

This service will be great to those users who need to share documents among different users or those individuals who want to share large firms as they could be uploaded to Google’s service and then accessed through a link.

Lunching a Cloud like service for Google is much simpler since they operate servers and datacenters the main infrastructure need for this type of service.

Depending on how Google structures the service, it could become an additional revenue generator, either in terms of fees paid by the users or advertising revenue generated.

The launching of Google Drive will added to their collection of web based services that they run.
